The Great Kindness Challenge!
This school year, Kaison is our first student to become a Millionaire at MMS. She has read 1, 014, 625 words. She has read a total of 37 books with points worth 4 or more. She found out in 6th grade that she liked to read and has made it a goal to read a million words ever since. Reading has led her to change from an average student to achieving higher scores on the LEAP test, as well as taking high school courses in 8th grade. MMS students Read! Congratulations!

Mansfield Middle School Faculty and Staff believe that Attendance Matters. In January, 32 members of the School faculty and staff had Perfect Attendance. #AttendanceMatters
In 1960, Wilma Rudolph, of Clarksville, TN, won with the new Olympic record time of 11.3 seconds in Rome with the new record time of 11.3 seconds in in the women’s 100-meter dash in Rome, 1960.
Ms. Vance and her 2-4th hour students participated in Read Bowl, a global reading competition where PK-8 aged teams around the globe compete to read for the most minutes. The students placed 13 in the Middle School Conference making the Top 25 Teams participating. Also the students place 2nd in the State. Readers are Achievers.

In case you didn’t already know, the creator of Black History Month was historian Carter G. Woodson. Often referred to as the “Father of Black History,” he was notably the second African American to graduate from Harvard University with a doctorate degree, and is credited with being one of the first scholars to study and research the history of African Americans.
Our 1st MMS Running Club mixed with Girls & Boys track. There are about 20 students in the running club 🏃♀️ 😎
Phillis Wheatley was the first African American to publish a book of poetry, Poems on Various Subjects, Religious and Moral, in 1773. Born in the Gambia and sold to the Wheatley family in Boston when she was 7 years old, Wheatley was emancipated shortly after her book was released.

The Black History Month 2023 theme, “Black Resistance,” explores how "African Americans have resisted historic and ongoing oppression, in all forms, especially the racial terrorism of lynching, racial pogroms and police killings," since the nation's earliest days.
MMS celebrations Black History Month, this is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history.
