DeSoto's SEAP committee functions to provide advice and feedback based on factual information and thoughtful insight regarding special education policies, procedures, and resources, as well as engage in outreach to the community at large to increase the level of knowledge, support, and collaboration with respect to special education.
This looks like:
Promoting communication, collaboration, and trust between all members of a student's IEP team (parents, students, service providers, and district administrators)
Advise and provide feedback on special education topics and goals at the district level, including the needs and priorities of students with disabilities, and on the development and implementation of educational programs
Provide a forum for the sharing of parent and staff ideas
Assisting in developing an annual report to the Superintendent (or administrative head of charter school or other public school) in May of each year regarding SEAP activities
If you're interested, applications for new members will open soon. For more information related to DeSoto SEAP, review the 22-23 Annual Report here: https://tinyurl.com/yryp8rrr
