Tamela Phillips Named Supervisor of Human Resources for DeSoto Parish Schools: DeSoto Parish Schools is excited to announce that Mrs. Tamela Phillips has been appointed as the Supervisor of Human Resources. As an educator for twenty-eight years, spending 16 in the classroom and 12 as an administrator, Mrs. Phillips has enjoyed watching students grow into young adults who move on to college or the workforce. For the last five years, she has served DeSoto Parish as the Principal at North DeSoto High School, where she has thoroughly enjoyed working with the staff and students. Her favorite times in the building are visiting classrooms and witnessing the work done by teachers and students on a daily basis. She has also enjoyed the many hours cheering on the Griffins in many sports and extracurricular events, as they are an important part of high school. Mrs. Phillips is most proud of the work done by students and teachers and the steady growth of NDHS during her tenure, and looks forward to seeing that growth continue in the future. While Mrs. Phillips loves the students and staff of NDHS and will miss them tremendously, she is excited to step into a new role in DeSoto Parish Schools. “I am excited about the opportunity to work at the district level and strive to support principals with staffing and working to have a positive impact on teacher recruitment, retention, and new teacher support.” Mrs. Philips will assume the role of Supervisor of Human Resources effective July 1, 2024.

Today at the SWSD Prom, students danced and sang the day away! Thank you to everyone who had a hand in making this day special, including (but not limited to!) DPSO and the Bringing Joye Program for food and drinks, Shootin' On Faith Photography, Susie Ford and Bella Canton for makeup and hair, the RB4 Event Center, Unstoppables Club, Jill Craft, Living Word Church, and Sheila Dawson-Mitchell for donating suits and dresses. Today was a prime example of how our small towns come together to provide such a positive and caring culture for our students! #TheDeSotoDifference

Congratulations to the North DeSoto High School Track and Field Team for their outstanding performance at the LHSAA 4A State Track Meet! 🎉 A huge shoutout to Javonte Taylor for securing 3rd place in the high jump with a remarkable height of 1.93 meters. 🥉 Dylan Compton's impressive run in the Boys 800 meters, earning 3rd place with a time of 1:58:19, And finally, Yazmin Furgerson, whose phenomenal performance in the Girls Discus Throw secured 2nd place with 35.28 m🥈 Your hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship truly make you all #DeSotoStrong

Congratulations to the phenomenal athletes of Logansport High School and Mansfield High School, l Track and Field on their outstanding performance at the LHSSAA State Track Meet! 🏆 Here are some outstanding highlights: Logansport’s Jamarcus Jones blazed through the competition, taking 1st place in the 100 meters with an incredible time of 10.59 seconds! 🥇 And let's hear it for the powerhouse 4 x 200 relay team – DeAvery Robinson, Omarius Colbert, Kaiton Packett, and Jamarcus Jones – clinching 1st place with a lightning-fast time of 1:28.93! The Mansfield High School Girls track Girls won the 4x100m. State Champs 49.43.
